"We no longer live in fear": what our residents say about Save Ukraine
Sometimes, the most important things about our work are told not by numbers, but by the words of the people who have found safety and support here.
At the Hope and Healing center, people who have lost their homes, survived shellings, or were forced to flee their hometowns receive comprehensive care. We provide them with comfortable housing, three meals a day, constant psychological support, and medical assistance. For some, this is the first opportunity in years to see a doctor or finally restore lost documents. Here, they find care, peace, and people who stand by them in their most difficult moments.
We have gathered a few sincere words from our residents about what this place means to them.

Ms. Nina, Dnipropetrovsk region
Her home was destroyed by an enemy shell.
“Our psychologist, Vika, warms us with her kindness. The moment she walks into the room, the mood instantly changes. We are all different, but we are united not by our misfortune, but by our faith.”

Ms. Hanna, Kharkiv region
She loves art therapy and meaningful conversation.
“I want peace, and I want to go home. We are so grateful to the entire center. We’ve already made birdfeeders, wreaths, and napkins. It brings so much comfort.”

Ms. Olena, Kharkiv region
The war took her home and severed her connection with her children.
“We were welcomed here so sincerely. I’ve found people who are now by my side every day. We support each other in everything, and it truly brings me back to life.”

Mr. Oleksandr, Kharkiv region
Suffered a hip fracture during an explosion; was left without documents or support.
“It’s good here. It was unbearable back there—staying under the shelling became impossible. I thank everyone for their care: the volunteers who evacuated me and everyone here.”

Ms. Larysa and Mr. Valerii, Donetsk region
Evacuated to our center as a large family
“We were terrified; we jumped at every sound, but that’s gone now. It’s peaceful here, everyone is helpful, and we’ve finally calmed down. We are regaining our strength to move forward.”
We thank our partners LandsAid and Aktion Deutschland Hilft for supporting the project “Support for the Hope and Recovery Center for the Elderly and People with Limited Mobility.” Thanks to you, we continue to create comfortable conditions for those who need it most.
