We distributed rescue backpacks to children in the Kherson Region!
What do our LifePack backpacks mean for little Ukrainians?
As adults, we think primarily about content and how practical and useful these things are. This is certainly important. Therefore, we made sure that the life pack contained the most necessary things for the child, which will help him physically and psychologically survive the move to a new place of life. This is water, a variety of snacks, a hygiene kit, a blanket, coloring pages, and a toy.
But imagine yourself, for a moment, as a child. As a girl or a boy, who are forced to leave the only world they know – the warmest home, best friends, first toys, school and everything familiar. It seems that there is nothing beyond this world.
And now, at the most painful moment of departure, you receive a gift – the first thing that will go with you into the unknown. It is only yours. There is something intriguing, useful, tasty and beautiful about it. And suddenly your journey becomes less scary. Now it is full of care, curiosity has and a new beginning.
This short joyful moment of receiving replaces the stress of loss and thus eases the psychological state of young Ukrainians, their perception of a traumatic event. That’s what just one gifted backpack at the right time brings.
Our cameraman Oleksandr Plotnikov was able to capture the little Khersons at the moment of receiving rescue gifts, and their eyes speak for themselves.
We are grateful to all partners and caring people who donate funds to these backpacks. In fact, you give children joy and hope in their darkest times. This is a huge contribution to their future and to humanity itself, which is capable of saving this world from war.
