Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children are having their lives stolen every day under Russian control
In the heart of London, War Child UK within campaign with Save Ukraine has created a powerful interactive installation. Thousands of paper dolls represent the children abducted by Russia and trapped under occupation, while video interviews from the film “Children on Fire” allow us to hear the voices of those who have been rescued.
Each doll is not just a symbol. It is the voice of a child whose future is being broken. It is a call to action.
“When I came to school, the principal said: ‘You’re Ukrainian? Ew, Ukrainians…’ If we refused to take part in militarised events, we were threatened with bad grades. One day I shouted ‘Glory to Ukraine!’ – the police came, and the principal hit me and said that in Russia you’re only allowed to say ‘Glory to Russia’.” — Boy, 10, Kharkiv region
“At school they told us this was a ticket to military college. Most boys joined because it gave extra exam points and a chance to avoid being drafted. We were being prepared for war.” — Girl, 14, Luhansk
“Every Monday we raised the Russian flag. Teachers repeated: ‘Ukraine started the war, Russia is protecting us.’ Soldiers forced us to prepare packages for the army, and we were warned that FSB agents might come to check our phones.” — Boy, 18, Luhansk
The #ReturnEveryChild campaign is a reminder: the war is not over, and children need our protection now.
Save Ukraine continues its daily mission — rescuing children from occupation and Russia, restoring their lives, and giving them back their childhood and their future.
