Standing up for Ukraine’s children
Save Ukraine had the honor of addressing Canada’s Subcommittee on International Human Rights (SDIR) to shed light on the ongoing deportation of Ukrainian children during Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Nearly 50% of Ukrainian children have suffered as a result of this war—through forced displacement, deportation, or other devastating impacts. Thousands have been subjected to indoctrination, stripped of their Ukrainian identity, and, in some cases, forcibly conscripted into the Russian military. These actions exhibit clear hallmarks of genocide, turning innocent children into instruments of war.
Through Save Ukraine’s efforts, 548 children have been rescued and given the opportunity to return to normalcy. However, the scale of this crisis remains vast. The fight to protect Ukraine’s future—and its children—continues.
Save Ukraine expresses deep gratitude to Canada for its leadership in human rights advocacy and to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, and the Temerty Foundation for their unwavering support of Save Ukraine’s programs. Their commitment has been instrumental in rescuing and rehabilitating deported children and in amplifying awareness of their plight.
The global community must act decisively to protect Ukraine’s children, prevent their militarization, and hold perpetrators accountable.
Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind, no identity erased, and no future stolen.
