Medical checkups for children rescued from war
The children we rescued from the temporarily occupied territories and from Russia continue to struggle with the consequences of what they’ve been through. Fear, anxiety, and insomnia stay with them even after their rescue.
To support their recovery, Save Ukraine regularly organizes specialized medical check-ups. These examinations help detect physical and psychological issues in time and prevent complications.
Last week, leading specialists examined the children at a medical center in Kyiv — including a pediatrician, ophthalmologist, cardiologist, dentist, psychologist, and others. Ms. Mariia, the deputy director of the center, shared: “The most common issues we see in children are anxiety, apathy, sleep disorders, and signs of chronic stress. But at the same time, they still know how to dream and believe in a better future.”
Following the check-ups, families are referred to rehabilitation centers and medical facilities as needed, where they receive continued support.
We are doing everything we can to help heal the traumas of our children — and to give them back what childhood needs most: a carefree smile.
