Making a Dream of Space Come True: The Story of 7-Year-Old Andrii
When the full-scale invasion began, Andrii was only four.
Half his life was spent under occupation — surrounded by explosions, flags of a foreign army, fear, and silence. He rarely left home and kept asking his mother, “Why are they shooting at us? What did we do?”
This year, as Andrii prepared to start school, his mother made the hardest but only right decision — to escape.
With the help of Save Ukraine, the family found safety in our “Hope and Healing” Center.
At first, Andrii wouldn’t speak or look anyone in the eye. But step by step — through the care of our psychologists, speech therapists, and teachers — he began to smile, to talk, to play.
Today, he’s a confident, curious first-grader who loves learning. And his favorite topic? Space.
He says it’s because “it’s quiet there — and rockets don’t fall.”
Recently, our team helped him live out that dream — through an “intergalactic adventure” organized together with our partners at @house_quest_party.
Seeing light return to his eyes was the greatest victory of all.
Every rescued child deserves the same chance — to feel safe, to dream again, to have a future.
