From loneliness under occupation to happiness in a new family. Lilia`s story
«There was a time when I was afraid to come home because I knew no one was there. Not even my mom». This is how Lilia lived for years under occupation.
Back in 2013, she lost her mother. After the full-scale invasion, she was forced to support herself and hide from the russians, who tried to force a russian passport on her and send her to an orphanage.
The Save Ukraine team was able to bring Lilia to safety. But most importantly, we did more than rescue her from occupation — we helped her find a real family. This is the fourth family Lilia has lived with, but the first where she has truly felt what it means to have a home.
Today, Lilia sleeps peacefully again, and in her dreams, she flies. She watches movies with her new mom, who is always there to support her, enjoys creating diamond paintings, spends time with friends, and has no secrets from her loved ones. She is also dedicated to her studies, enthusiastically learning Spanish, and bravely dreaming about her future.
Watch the story of an extraordinary girl who, despite all the hardships she endured, learned to trust people again.
