We Launched a Financial Literacy Course for Orphans
“Money isn’t just about opportunities — it’s also a big responsibility!”
That’s how we kicked off our financial literacy course for orphans and children deprived of parental care living in our shelter. No one had ever taught them how to plan a budget, save money, or avoid debt — yet these are essential life skills for adulthood.
⠀
Our goal was not only to spark their desire to earn money in the future, but also to teach them how to manage a budget wisely and plan their lives. That’s why we explained things simply, using real-life examples, games, and hands-on tasks. The children eagerly got involved — laughing, debating, calculating expenses, and even offering their own tips and tricks!
⠀
What we covered:
🔹 How to plan a budget so your money covers what you really need
🔹 The difference between “wants” and “needs”
🔹 How to avoid falling into the debt trap
🔹 What frugality really means — and why it’s smart, not shameful
⠀
For children who’ve lost their families and had to grow up far too early, this knowledge isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. Because financial literacy isn’t about boring numbers. It’s about being in control of your life, not fearing the future, and knowing you can handle whatever comes your way.
⠀
And this is just the beginning. The classes will continue regularly, and we’ll be right there to support every child along the way.
⠀
A heartfelt thank you to our partners Aktion Deutschland Hilft and Malteser International — with you, we’re offering more than just shelter. We’re creating real opportunities for children. Together, we’re changing lives.
