A remarkable meeting with chef Yevhen Klopotenko
“The Russians wanted to claim borscht as their own, but we added it to UNESCO, and now the whole world recognizes it as purely Ukrainian. It’s so Ukrainian that sometimes I feel like I’m made of beets,” passionately shared @Yevhenii Klopotenko with our kids about the uniqueness of Ukrainian cuisine. The children were so inspired by the meeting and conversations with the head chef that they not only wanted to eat a second serving of borscht but also learn how to cook wonderfully. And they had that opportunity too! 👩🍳”
Thanks to Yevhenii, the children from our “Hope and Healing” centers visited the “100 rokiv tomu vpered” restaurant for a dumpling cooking masterclass with chef Illia. They made dumplings of all kinds with various fillings. The kids had a lot of fun during the process, enjoyed the cooked dishes, and happily accepted praise from the chef. And then they topped it all off with delicious borscht☺️.
As a token of gratitude to Yevhenii for this incredible culinary day, we gave the chef a drawing of a girl from our center and a unique branded Save Ukraine t-shirt. Yevhenii immediately put it on and took many selfies with the children to remember the day.
We are sharing with you the video of this wonderful meeting.
