8,500 lives saved: how we support the elderly and persons with limited mobility
Every day, thousands of elderly people and those with limited mobility in frontline and occupied areas of Ukraine are pushed to the brink of survival. Many are without family, unable to leave on their own, and have lost their homes. They are left without access to medical services, food, and support. It is the most vulnerable segment of the population, comprising 42% of fatalities in conflict zones. Every new day brings uncertainty and danger.
Save Ukraine is doing everything possible to save those most at risk. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, we have evacuated over 8,500 elderly people and persons with disabilities from the most dangerous regions. In our Hope and Healing Centers in the Kyiv and Lviv regions, over 1,300 people have received temporary housing, assistance with document restoration, and legal, medical, and psychological support.
Our actions yield results: over 80% of evacuated individuals have already found permanent, safe housing within Ukraine and abroad. We provide them not only with shelter but with a chance to begin a new life with dignity and hope for the future.
We especially thank our international partners, LandsAid and Aktion Deutschland Hilft, who support and assist us in saving lives. Together, we continue to do everything possible to offer people the chance for a new, safe life.
