11 children & teenagers rescued from occupation
Last week, the Save Ukraine team rescued 11 Ukrainian children and teenagers from occupation. This was made possible thanks to the support of Wladimir Klitschko, Tatjana Kiel from WeAreAllUkrainians, the Humanity Charitable Foundation, Helping to Leave, and the Joint Center for the Coordination of Search and Release. These children endured threats, coercion, and relentless propaganda. Today, they are finally safe.
Among those rescued:
🔹 9-year-old Alina, whose family was unable to leave for a long time because her father is a former service member. Russian forces systematically monitored such families, carrying out searches and interrogations. As a result, no one was willing to risk helping the family escape.
🔹 16-year-old Miia, whose village was under constant shelling. Drones flew over homes and dropped explosives into yards and residential buildings. When Miia photographed a destroyed house nearby, occupation forces came to her home and summoned FSB officers. She was forbidden from taking photos and threatened with consequences.
🔹 17-year-old Yevhen, who spent all his school years in his occupied hometown. At school, he was forced to study in a cadet class and attend mandatory “patriotic talks” and military-oriented activities. He knew that as soon as he turned 18, he would be conscripted into the Russian army.
🔹 16-year-old Matvii and 8-year-old Alisa, who were forced to attend a Russian school after occupation child protection authorities pressured their parents. At school, children were taught about the so-called “reunification of Kherson and Donbas” and told that Ukraine was the enemy. When Matvii’s personal data was transferred to a military enlistment office, the family realized they could not wait any longer.
All rescued children are now staying at Save Ukraine’s Hope and Healing Centers, where they receive psychological support, assistance with documents, safe housing, and care—everything they need to regain a sense of safety and learn to dream again.
Thanks to Save Ukraine, more than 1,000 children have already been rescued from occupation. But thousands are still waiting to be saved.
