How kidnapped teenagers from the Kherson region end up on Shumshu Island
What are Ukrainian children doing on a remote island near Japan, dressed in military uniforms under the Russian flag?
They were taken there from Kherson region to be turned into soldiers of a foreign army.
Kornii was only 15 when Russia occupied his home in Kherson. A young athlete, he should have been training for competitions. Instead, he was taken to a Russian military camp — part of a system where nearly 90% of children in occupied areas are forced into militarized youth groups.
These children are taught to handle weapons, to hate Ukraine, and eventually to fight against the West. Many were taken from their homes at gunpoint, sent thousands of miles away, and told their future lies in war.
Save Ukraine has already rescued hundreds of children like Kornii. But each day matters. Every child we bring home is one less life stolen by this machinery of war.
Watch Kornii’s story & share it so more people know what is happening.
