The Pavlichenko family from the Kherson Region was provided with housing in Zakarpattia!
9-year-old Maria, the daughter of Andrii and Natali, rapidly began to lose her sight during the hostilities in her native Odradokamyanka. When the girl was three years old, she underwent a medical check-up, after which the child was diagnosed with myopathy. Simply put, Mariyka was doomed to wear glasses and could start losing her sight at any time. These consequences were caused by the full-scale war and constant stress in which the girl has been living.
The biggest pain for the parents was the impossibility of medical examining their daughter in the conditions of that time. Hospitals stopped their usual work, and most of the specialists just left. Government institutions and even shops were closing. Then Natalya’s mother became a local volunteer and distributed humanitarian aid to people who were extremely frightened due to constant explosions. More than once, enemy shells burst near Mariyka’s house. The family was hoping that the shelling of their village would soon stop. However, no one expected that they would be replaced by the occupation.
The Pavlichenko family remembers this time with horror. All exits from the settlement were blocked, so the family couldn’t escape again to provide their daughter with proper medical care. On top of that, Natalia was also developing a serious illness, but she could only continue to work as a technician at the school and hide Ukrainian symbols from the occupiers with faith in the arrival of Ukrainian defenders. According to the parents, it was only thanks to this unbreakable faith that the people of Odradkamen had the strength to stay in captivity. After 9 months of occupation, their village was finally released. And in Natalia and Andrii, the hope of saving their daughter’s sight has been again kindled.
The family went to Kyiv, where the girl and her mother were able to get examined and begin treatment! After what had happened, the whole family was in a difficult psychological state, it was difficult for them to adapt to life in a big city. Therefore, the news that the Save Ukraine team will provide them with a home in Zakarpattia within the framework of the Fort Home project was a great relief and joy for the family.
Currently, the Pavlichenko family has already settled in a modular house, which has all the conditions and conveniences for restoring their lives: from water, electricity, and a generator to food.
We wish Mariyka and Natalia to improve their health!
