How working with a psychologist helped to overcome anxiety: the story of Nataliia from Irpin
War leaves unhealed wounds not only on buildings but also in the hearts and souls of people, especially children. The psychological service of Save Ukraine Community Centers works with these traumas. Today, we have this feedback about how one of our psychologists helped to restore peace of mind in one of the Irpin families. Nataliia tells about her spiritual salvation:
“Returning to our native Irpin after the city’s liberation in the spring of 2024 became a test for our family.
The ruins of a once-thriving neighborhood were hard to see. But it affected my son the most. He became anxious, depressed thoughts appeared, and our family life turned into hell. I realized that we need psychological help.
Fortunately, I got an initial consultation with Olesia, a psychologist from the Save Ukraine Сenter. Our meetings became a real revolution in self-perception, our loved ones, and the world around us. The attitude to your body has changed, and a sense of harmony has appeared, which had been suppressed by constant anxiety before. And most importantly, our son’s condition and our relationship with him have improved.
There is still much work ahead, but I can already see positive changes in myself and our family. It inspires and gives confidence in the future. Now, I understand how critical psychological support is for either adults or children in these difficult times. I hope such groups will soon become available for teenagers as well.”
