Fort Home: rebuilding the Belov family's life
Uliana from Kharkiv cherishes the memory of the joy she felt when she and her children could finally rest in a warm bed without worrying about where they would sleep the next night. Forced to leave their hometown due to the war, Uliana, along with her 11-year-old son Maxym and 6-year-old daughter Vika, sought refuge in Chernivtsi Oblast. Struggling to find housing, they could not see their future until Ulyana contacted our partner hub, HVЕ Church. Soon after, Save Ukraine offered them long-term housing in the modular house under the Fort Home program.
Our support extends beyond providing shelter; the Fort Home project is a community offering comprehensive aid for families to adapt and rebuild. From the very beginning, we provided the Belov family with humanitarian and psychological support, assisted with necessary paperwork, enrolled Maxym and Vika in school, and offered educational support at our Community Center.
Determined not to remain idle, Uliana felt ready to work and support her family financially. We assisted her in securing a job as a logistics specialist with a cargo transport company in Ukraine and Europe, where she has been employed for the past six months.
Having lived in the modular home for four months, the Belov family has adapted, formed new connections, and despite the pain and loss, life continues.
