Yoga sessions for children and adults by Save Ukraine: thank you to American Volunteer LJ
LJ, a volunteer from the USA and a certified trauma-sensitive yoga instructor, once again visited Save Ukraine. Her mission is to help children and adults affected by the war to recover and stabilize psychologically.
Over two weeks, LJ conducted:
🔹 16 yoga sessions for children, including 2 for disabled children and 3 groups for adults in our centers in Kyiv, Irpin, Kharkiv, and Yuzhne;
🔹 2 special sessions for people with limited mobility;
🔹 2 stabilization groups and 2 training sessions for the staff of the Centers, as well as a training session for our psychologists on trauma-sensitive yoga and breathing practices;
🔹 A yoga session for the Save Ukraine office team.
These practices help improve physical and emotional well-being, develop self-regulation skills, increase concentration, and learn how to cope with stress — and the Save Ukraine team felt the full benefit 😊
LJ also conducted a training session for our psychologists, providing detailed guidance on how to work with this method. She prepared materials for each center with simple explanations that would be interesting and easy for children. During her previous visit, her team developed the IRest program for adults in the Ukrainian language. This time, she created a video lesson for children, making the practices regular and accessible in a convenient online format.
We express our sincere gratitude to LJ for her dedication, professionalism, and desire to help Ukrainians. It is a remarkable contribution to the recovery and healing of those under the influence of prolonged stress and constant anxiety. Together with such partners, we are making significant strides toward the psychological health of our nation.
