When panic has no warning sign. Tips for parents
A child walking to school suddenly freezes.
Breathing quickens, heart races, eyes lose focus — but there are no sirens, no explosions.
This is a panic attack — a flashback of fear that surfaces without warning.
At Save Ukraine, our psychologists see this every day. Panic attacks don’t only affect children rescued from occupation. They often strike those still living under fire — children whose bodies have learned to survive, but not yet to feel safe.
That’s why, this World Mental Health Day, we remind the world: mental recovery is not a luxury. It’s an urgent need for an entire generation growing up in war.
At Save Ukraine, our psychologists work daily with hundreds of young survivors — restoring stability, trust, and the ability to live without fear. They know how to help children calm their bodies, manage fear, and regain a sense of safety.
