We Rescued a Group of Children
Ukrainian children who were living under occupation and enduring abuse by the Russian regime just yesterday are finally back in Ukraine today. For the past three years, they lived under constant pressure, fear, propaganda, and restrictions. Now, their safety is no longer at risk. This was made possible through the joint efforts of our Save Ukraine team and as a part of the Presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA.
🔹 Among them is 17-year-old Katia, who refused to wear Russian symbols and openly spoke out against the war. A boxing coach tried to force her into a car, while a Russian soldier openly threatened to kill her. To protect her family during house searches, she had to destroy the traditional embroidered clothing and flags she had cherished since childhood.
🔹 16-year-old Yevhen hadn’t seen his mother for three years. His grandmother hid him at home to prevent him from being forced to attend a Russian school. The occupiers tried to strip her of parental rights. Now, the family is finally reunited.
🔹 Little Mariia survived the Kakhovka dam explosion, the death of her pets, humiliation, and abuse. During their escape, Russian forces pushed her to a state of hysteria. Her mother was interrogated six times and threatened with the murder of her loved ones. They are now safe, but still afraid to fall asleep at night.
Thanks to Save Ukraine, these children are now safe and receiving the support they need. The families have been provided with temporary housing and humanitarian aid. Our case managers are helping restore documents, while our psychologists are supporting them through the trauma they’ve experienced. This September, these children will finally be able to start school in Ukraine — freely, and without fear. For now, they’re catching up on their studies at our Community center.
