We carry out art therapy according to the Norwegian method.
Psychologists from one of our “Hope and Healing” centers have mastered a new method of conducting art therapy classes with children who have suffered from russian military aggression. Specialists of the center take over this experience from their Norwegian colleagues.
The main purpose of this technique is to help the child become more integral mentally and physically. After all, often after receiving mental injuries, children become withdrawn and isolate their negative emotions. However, emotions continue to manifest themselves in the body.
Thanks to Norwegian art therapy, we help children to identify these emotions, accept them, and thus become more integral.
First, young Ukrainians identify their feelings and look for exactly where emotions are felt in the body. And then kids mark them through the drawings on their own self-portraits. When our wards see negative emotions on paper, together with a psychologist, they can better understand how to cope with them. Children mark “painful” places with hearts or palms, showing that they are ready to share their sadness, joy, or anger with their loved ones.
In this way, children discover their feelings, are not afraid of them, and can consciously manage them. And these are crucial steps to restore their well-being!
We would like to thank our partners for the organization of the training of specialists at the “Hope and Healing” center. And also to psychologist Natalia Asadchaya and the head of the Hanna Fox Horkun Center for working with children.
