Under occupation since the first days of the full-scale war
These wonderful, sweet boys and their mother have been under occupation since the first days of the full-scale war. At that time, Iryna was already on maternity leave to care for her youngest son. Her husband was serving in the ATO until February 24, which is why the family had a hard time when the invaders entered their village in the Kherson region.
The family had to survive several searches. During the first search, the husband was severely beaten. The kids were in the next room, and the sounds they heard scared them. When it was over, the boys cried for a long time.
However, the searches continued. They searched every corner of the yard, interrogated and mocked them brutally every time. The children stayed at home all the time. Not only did they not have the opportunity to go to kindergarten, but they were afraid to go outside with them. After another search, the Giviriak family decided to leave.
Iryna came across Save Ukraine with the help of her relatives and cousins. However, the family still had a hard time on the road, as they had to travel through Russia and Belarus and undergo filtration.
When the Giviryaks arrived in Ukraine, they were immediately taken to one of the Kyiv centers. After recovering a bit, they went to their friends in Mykolaiv region, closer to their native land. A month later, the man volunteered for the Armed Forces, and their friends asked them to leave.
The woman with three children had to look for housing and money again.
Iryna was desperate. What to do, who to turn to for help? And then she remembered Save Ukraine and the people who helped them at the Kyiv “Hope and Recovery” center. Our specialists immediately responded to Iryna’s request, and the next day the woman and her sons were in Kyiv. We met the family and took them to our center in Hatne.
Now the mother and children are safe. The kids were examined by doctors. Now a psychologist is working with them, because the boys received a lot of psychological trauma while they were under occupation. Iryna also receives help and advice from the psychologist. The family has all the necessary things for living and is putting their documents in order. All this time, a case manager has been accompanying the family on all current issues. The family is also solving the issue of housing and enrollment of children in kindergarten.
