Three new libraries for children rescued from occupation
They play, read, draw, and talk for hours — that’s how children now spend their time in the three new libraries recently opened at our Hope and Healing centers.
Modern and cozy, with comfortable furniture, soft beanbags, and a wide selection of books for all ages — these libraries feel more like community hubs where you want to stay longer.
Writers visit these spaces, bringing books, workshops, live conversations, and sweet treats. Recently, one of our reading rooms welcomed Maryna Artemenko, author of The Lion Book, which follows a boy named Lev on his everyday little adventures.
“I liked the book with wheels the most. I didn’t know books could be like that — so interactive!”
shared Maria, one of the girls who attended the meeting. After the event, she spent a long time exploring the shelves, searching for new favorite stories.
We are especially grateful to our partners at Food Bank. Their support made this important project possible. For children who have survived occupation, the loss of home or loved ones, these libraries have become true islands of calm and safety — places where they can simply be children again.
Please share this post — together, we can bring more joy and new opportunities to these children.
