The story of the Stelmakh family from the occupied Kherson region
The Stelmakh family had to leave their village of Mali Kopani in the Kherson region because of the occupation and hostilities. On their land, they had to experience the terrible lawlessness of the occupiers: searches, threats, and abuse of the local population. But it was not easy to leave the house and everything made during life. However, friends warned that Russian troops planned to raze the village to the ground. The hard road from the occupation to our center in the Kherson region lasted for nine days, where the family received comprehensive assistance.
We could provide the family shelter, psychological support, and medical consultation for Liudmila’s daughter at the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital. We also helped families with rest and rehabilitation, both physical and psychological.
In March, the family moved to Volyn. There, they could live for free until the end of the war. The Stelmakh family is sincerely grateful for the support and assistance provided by our organization in their time of need.
The story of the Stelmakh family is a vivid example of how Save Ukraine not only helps internally displaced persons to find shelter and receive the necessary assistance but also to recover from the horrors of war.
