The holiday of the first bell takes place in the conditions of a full-scale war
For the second time in Ukraine, the holiday of the first bell takes place in the conditions of a full-scale war.
According to UNICEF Ukraine, 1,300 schools have been destroyed in the country, only a third of children attend school full-time, a third of children study in a mixed format, and a third – remotely. About 75% of children in the front-line settlements do not attend kindergartens. Thousands of children in temporarily occupied territories are forced to study according to the educational standards of an enemy country. Not all children of Ukrainian refugees who are currently abroad can get a full education due to language barriers.
In times of crisis, we don’t have time for long thoughts about how to modify the education system so that every child has access to knowledge. In times of crisis, we must react quickly and provide the child with exactly what it needs. Often it is not only knowledge of certain school subjects but also psychological support, ensuring the child’s mental health and well-being.
Therefore, the Save Ukraine team makes a crucial contribution to restoring the education of IDP children and their psychological state in our daycare centers, which are already operating in many cities of Ukraine: from Kharkiv to Ivano-Frankivsk.
📚 We’re glad to pave this educational path for our children despite all the obstacles that war brings. And we will continue to do everything possible and impossible for future generations of Ukrainians.
