Sophie Helen, Duchess of Edinburgh, visited our Hope and Healing Center in Irpin
The Duchess of Edinburgh recently visited our “Hope and Healing” center in Irpin. Mykola Kuleba, the founder and director of Save Ukraine, guided the Duchess through our Community Center for children with disabilities. This facility provides support to families from both the occupied territories in Ukraine and the local community. Mykola Kuleba shared the key focus areas of their work and the dreams that need support to be realized.
“The biggest challenge for us today is to develop a new culture and value system that prioritizes the care of children and families as fundamental institutions,” emphasized Mykola Kuleba. He added that this system should be designed so that every member feels like a valued participant. Additionally, he pointed out that the space they operate in promotes not isolation but inclusion and equality, especially for children with disabilities.
During her visit, Her Royal Highness engaged with the children in our workshops, where they presented her with handmade themed gifts. She also spoke with their parents, who had brought them to these sessions.
Her Royal Highness praised the mission of the organization and the Community Center in particular, highlighting the importance of our unique initiative for the reintegration and rehabilitation of families and children affected by the war into the local community.
