Six children returned from the occupation
The Save Ukraine team helped 6 more Ukrainian children and their families escape from the temporarily occupied territory. To date, we have successfully repatriated 251 children back to Ukraine from Russia and the TOT.
Tamara Oleksandrivna, who worked her entire life in a library, saw the Russians start to remove all Ukrainian books, labeling them as extremist. To prevent their destruction, she secretly took nearly all the Ukrainian books from the library. She hid the books at home and cleverly recorded them under the names of villagers who had already left the occupied area to avoid suspicion. Later, a few members of the DNR group broke into her house, searching for a laptop that might have had materials related to the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) participants.
At 17, Angelina knows too well that war means fear and pain. Many times under occupation, she saw Russian planes and missiles flying low to bomb her fellow countrymen. During the bombings, she would hide under a table and pray to God that nothing bad would happen. At a young age, instead of dreaming about new life opportunities, her only wish is for the Russian troops to leave Ukraine.
Now, Tamara Oleksandrivna, her daughter, and her 4-year-old grandson, as well as 17-year-old Angelina with her grandmother and little nephews, are safe. They all just want to rest and start planning for the future again.
