Save Ukraine Resilience Center for IDPs from the Donetsk region opens in Kyiv
On October 3, 2024, Save Ukraine opened the first Resilience Center for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Donetsk region in Kyiv. This haven of care and support for those who have lost everything due to the war became a reality through the joint efforts of the team of the foundation, the Nikolska community, and the Ministry of Social Policy as part of the initiative How Are You? of First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
The Resilience Center is an innovative model for delivering social services designed to help Ukrainians affected by the war overcome stress and trauma, recover from crises, and return to a regular life. Here, IDPs from the Donetsk region will receive consultations on social issues, training in first psychological aid, mental health diagnostics, and group psychological support.
The head of the National Social Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Lutsyk, CEO of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, Vitalii Muzychenko, the Head of the Nikolska Territorial Community in the Mariupol district, Vasyl Mitko, the leader of Save Ukraine’s community-based social service model, Iryna Chahovets attended the opening event.
“Our centers are beacons of hope for hundreds of Ukrainians who need support in these difficult times. We are confident that through initiatives like this, our country will not only withstand challenges but also recover, growing stronger each day,” said Iryna Chahovets.
This Resilience Center is one of the first to provide social services to citizens in problematic circumstances.
