Russian projectile exploded outside and took her mother's life
1.5-year-old Nastia had been at home when a russian projectile exploded outside and took her mother’s life.
Three days before the evacuation of the Klipachov family, the russians attacked the village of Zvanivka in the Bakhmut district with artillery fire. Many houses had been destroyed, and people died. Among the victims was Nastia’s mother. After finding out the terrible news about her daughter’s death, grandmother Lyudmila immediately left home and quickly came from Siversk to take care of her granddaughter in the hospital.
The woman previously sent her youngest daughter Tatiana to Rai-Oleksandrivka to rescue her from danger. There were also hits there, but still less often than at home.
The city in which both lived factually doesn’t exist, it has been “erased” from the face of the earth by enemy bombs for more than a year, and since May 2022 there no electricity, gas, or water, as well as the possibility to repair these communications.
“We have been sleeping in the basement for the last two months, although we are already used to this horror. Because you could not wake up, or open your eyes in a burning house,” Lyudmila says. But all the things and memories, warm and incredibly old, remained at home.
On the day of the evacuation, the Save Ukraine team had been gathering the Klipachov family from different parts of the Donetsk region to finally reunite them in the children’s hospital where Nastia stayed. Unfortunately, grief became the reason for this reunion. Many relatives came here and it was difficult for everyone to contain their emotions. Against the background of the events that took place a few days ago, a new separation and tears of little Nastia were added. She seemed to understand everything and felt on par with adults.
The Save Ukraine volunteer, who took the family from the front-line territory, also couldn’t hold back tears. Despite that we see dozens of tragic stories of Ukrainians every day, it is false to say that the heart is indifferent. Or that it gets used to it. Because every human story is a great unique life with its dreams and meanings. And it is impossible to get used to the pain of his losses.
Little Nastia and her family are now safe, and together with volunteers, they are going to the “Hope and Healing” center in Kyiv. The family still has a lot of new challenges ahead, but we believe that the strength of the unity of this strong family will help them survive everything.
