Save Ukraine rescued a group of children from the occupation
Another group of Ukrainian children has been safely evacuated from Russian-occupied territory thanks to the tireless efforts of our Save Ukraine team and the support of partners in the Bring Kids Back UA initiative. All of them are now safe, but each has endured the harrowing ordeal of occupation: humiliation, fear, isolation, and intimidation.
Five-year-old Denys witnessed a drone strike that killed his mother and left his father without legs. Now, he asks daily when his mother will return, as his family struggles to tell him the truth.
Marina, Kolia, and Artem rarely left their home for years to avoid detection by Russian occupiers. School, normal life, and access to the internet vanished along with their sense of safety. The Russians demanded Russian documents and threatened their guardians, leaving the children in constant fear.
The mother of 11-year-old Vova and 15-year-old Olia was determined to raise her children as Ukrainians despite the Russian occupation of their hometown. Even in a Russian-run school, the children bravely sang the Ukrainian anthem. Ultimately, their mother successfully brought them to safety.
Olena and her four-year-old daughter lived on a street littered with landmines, where people lost their lives. They avoided contact with others, fearing searches and the Smerch unit tasked with identifying pro-Ukrainian families. After a close acquaintance died due to lack of timely medical care, Olena made the courageous decision to flee.
Several of these children have been reunited with their mothers after nearly three years of separation. All the rescued children and their families are now at the Hope and Healing Center, where they receive psychological support, assistance with documentation, access to education, warm housing, and compassionate care. Most importantly, they can finally be themselves.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to WeAreAllUkrainians and the United Center for the Coordination of Search and Rescue for their vital support in these rescue missions. Together, we are restoring childhoods to these children. Help us save more lives.
