Pysankarstvo as art therapy for children affected by the war
On the eve of Easter, our “Hope and Healing” center in Hatne held a master class on Pysankarstvo painting. This event was an excellent opportunity to learn about folk traditions and art therapy recovery techniques.
Under the guidance of craftswomen from the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, the children had a chance to dive into the world of Ukrainian culture and feel the healing power of creativity. By creating Easter eggs, they not only mastered an ancient craft but were also able to remove internal blocks and restore a sense of peace and harmony.
Such activities contribute to children’s socialization and adaptation to a new environment. While painting Easter eggs, children could interact with each other, exchange experiences, and share feelings in safe, friendly surroundings. Creativity helps them forget about troubles and focus on carrying out a particular task that children can control on their own. And therefore reduce anxiety and find inner peace.
We are grateful to the organizers, Maryna Antoniuk and Ms. Anna Inoue, for holding a master class for our children. Thanks to such events, young Ukrainians get another chance to quickly recover from what they experienced and start building their happy future.
