Partnering with local communities in war-affected areas
Even in cities mere miles from the front lines, Save Ukraine is there — working hand in hand with local communities to protect families and give children hope.
⠀
The war in Ukraine continues to devastate civilian life. Towns like Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia, situated perilously close to active conflict zones, face constant threats from airstrikes, shelling, and drone attacks. Yet amid the devastation, local communities are fighting to protect their children, and Save Ukraine stands beside them.
⠀
Our team recently visited both cities to meet with local authorities, social workers, and grassroots activists. Together, we explored ways to better support families in war-torn areas by providing evacuation, emergency aid, mental health services, and long-term recovery.
⠀
In Mykolaiv, we hosted a roundtable discussion at one of our Community Centers — safe spaces where children and caregivers can receive psychological, educational, and social support. In Zaporizhzhia, we presented our approach to trauma-informed care and coordinated with local services to improve the daily lives of displaced and war-affected families.
Our observations are clear: rebuilding hope in a war zone requires trust, collaboration, and presence on the ground. Save Ukraine isn’t just delivering aid — we are building support systems in partnership with local communities, so that no family has to face war alone.
⠀
We are continually inspired by Ukrainian volunteers, social workers, and community leaders — many of whom, despite losing their own homes or loved ones, continue serving others. They embody the essence of true resilience.
⠀
But we can’t do this alone.

Your support makes this work possible. Every donation helps us keep children safe, families together, and communities alive in places where the world too often looks away.
