Left Alone Among the Ruins: How Our Evacuation Team Saved Mrs. Valentyna
When the roof of her home was blown off by shelling, 74-year-old Mrs. Valentyna stayed alone for three days — with no food, only a little water, and nowhere to go.
Her village in the Zaporizhzhia region was under constant fire. No family left. No one nearby to help.
That’s when Save Ukraine’s evacuation team arrived.
Our field specialists — trained to operate in active combat zones — reached her home, helped her out of the destroyed building, and transported her to safety.
Today, she lives in our Hope and Healing Center for elderly and mobility-impaired people, where she receives care, warmth, and daily support.
“It’s good here. There’s food, people, and peace. I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me,” she says quietly, now safe and smiling.
Every mission like this is a race against time — to reach those who have no one else left.
Our evacuation teams work across frontline and occupied territories, ensuring that people like Mrs. Valentyna are not forgotten.
