Latvian delegation visits the Save Ukraine Center
Last week, the Save Ukraine Center welcomed members of a Latvian delegation, including Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia, members of parliament, and Andris Piebalgs, Ambassador of Latvia to Ukraine.
During the visit, our guests learned firsthand how rescue operations are carried out and heard the stories of children who survived occupation, forced displacement, and the loss of their homes. We also shared how our team supports these children step by step, helping them recover and rebuild their trust in the future.
The discussions also addressed the realities of life under constant shelling. We demonstrated how the community continues to function during blackouts and the heating crisis caused by attacks on energy infrastructure. Despite the surrounding darkness, our center is fully equipped with backup power systems and continues operating without interruption. We are creating an island of stability where the enemy seeks to sow chaos.
A special moment for the children attending our day center in Hatne was the gifts from our Latvian friends — souvenirs and games inspired by an Academy Award–winning animated film. In the coming weeks, we will host a shared screening of the film. Even now, however, we can see how genuine care and attention help restore children’s faith in people and in kindness.
Visits like this go beyond diplomacy. They show how international support is transformed into real, tangible assistance for every child.
We sincerely thank our Latvian partners for their attention, solidarity, and continued support.
