How we evacuate families from frontline areas
Will the road still be passable? Can we make it through before the next shelling begins?
For Save Ukraine’s evacuation teams, these are not hypothetical questions — they are the reality of every mission.
Every day, our teams risk their lives to rescue people trapped near the frontline. They work from early morning until late evening, often under fire, ensuring that as many families as possible can reach safety.
“Of course, it’s frightening to drive there — you know it’s dangerous. But there are people waiting for us, counting on our help. And we can’t let them down,” says Ruslan, one of our drivers.
Each rescue begins with a call to our hotline. The information is passed to the evacuation team, which assesses the situation, creates a plan, and moves quickly — often between explosions — to bring people out.
This time, our team evacuated the family of four-year-old Artem from Druzhkivka, Donetsk region. At his age, he can already distinguish the sounds of shelling.
These missions save lives — but they also restore hope, one family at a time.
We are deeply grateful to our partners LandsAid e.V. and Aktion Deutschland Hilft for supporting our evacuation missions and helping make this work possible.
