How the Hope and Healing center team in Hatne works
Recovery begins with something simple — the warmth of human touch, a kind look, and the feeling that you are not alone.
That’s exactly how the Save Ukraine Hope and Healing center team in Hatne works every day. It’s a place where people who have escaped occupation, frontline areas, or were forced to flee their homes can finally feel a sense of home, stability, and safety.
Our specialists are the first to welcome families after evacuation. They help them recover from what they’ve been through and meet their most urgent needs — finding safe housing, getting access to food, clothing, medical and psychological care.
Each family receives an individual support plan tailored to their unique situation. We listen carefully, assess, and act — making sure that help arrives exactly when it’s needed most.
Meet the people who make our center a place of comfort and safety.
Yuliia Sydorenko, the center’s director, built a dedicated team of professionals and created a system that makes the center a safe and supportive space for children and families. Under her leadership, all processes run smoothly — from organizing assistance programs to daily work with families in crisis.

Zoia Nikolaieva, deputy director, coordinates the team’s work, serves as a case manager, and cares for orphans and children deprived of parental care. She oversees support, protection, and social adaptation programs for families facing difficult life circumstances.

Olesia Bozhko, case manager, is one of the first people families meet after being rescued. She helps them with paperwork, provides support in the first difficult days, and helps restore their sense of trust and safety.

Svitlana Kukura, the center’s psychologist, helps children and adults regain emotional balance after trauma. She supports families through difficult conversations and helps them find the strength to move forward.

Viktoriia Kravchenko, nurse, takes care of the physical health of our beneficiaries: accompanying them to medical check-ups, monitoring treatment, and providing assistance in emergencies.

Andrii Kyslyi, the center’s driver, ensures the team stays mobile — delivering help exactly where it’s needed most.

Each team member has their own role and responsibility, but they all share one common goal — to help families recover, feel safe, and return to life without fear. For many, the Hope and Recovery Center in Hatne has become a true home after loss and hardship.
We are sincerely grateful to the Auswärtiges Amt — thanks to their support, this center has become a place of warmth, care, and new beginnings for hundreds of children rescued from occupation and Russian deportation.
