How Save Ukraine protects and restores hope for the most vulnerable
Every day, Save Ukraine volunteers risk their lives driving into active combat zones — to rescue those who cannot flee on their own. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, our team has evacuated nearly 10,000 elderly and mobility-impaired people from the frontlines.
Many refuse to leave at first — afraid of abandoning their homes, pets, or simply unsure where they will go. Some say quietly, “This is my home. I’ll stay here, even if I die.”
But our rescuers never give up. They return again and again — convincing, comforting, finding solutions. One elderly man agreed to evacuate only after we found a new farm to take in his 33 cows. Each mission is unique, shaped by human stories, fear, and courage.
Our work doesn’t end when the danger zone is behind us. At the Kyiv railway station, specially equipped vehicles meet evacuees and take them to the Hope and Healing Center in Irpin. There, they receive housing, humanitarian aid, medical care, and psychological support — all free of charge and tailored to each person’s needs.
These are not just evacuation missions — they are acts of humanity, carried out under fire, for those who have no one else.
