How mandala therapy helps children cope with anxiety
When the father is in a war zone, the child may have various psychological problems. It is not only about longing for Dad but also a constant concern for the life of the closest person. In the conditions of a continuing armed conflict, such cases are becoming frequent.
How to help children cope with new challenges? How to overcome feelings of loneliness and become more self-confident? To do this, the psychologists of our center use various methods of art therapy, among which mandala therapy is quite effective.
Recently, our center has received a request from the relatives of a girl whose father is currently at the front. It was difficult for the child to concentrate. She felt alone and confused. To interest the girl and motivate her to continue working with the psychologist, our specialist suggested that she draw a mandala.
A mandala is an abstract drawing in a circle, the shape of which symbolizes a person’s views on life, his inner world, thoughts, and feelings of this moment. This technique helps you find yourself, solve internal conflicts, relieve stress, and get rid of fears.
In the process of painting an abstract circle, the girl calmed down, her body relaxed, and tension disappeared. At the end, the child was smiling and expressed a desire to continue the consultations. We are happy that we can help young Ukrainians overcome life’s challenges ecologically and give them light and hope for the future.
