How little Yaroslav found confidence and “wings” at the Community center
Nine-year-old Yaroslav arrived in Irpin from the Zaporizhzhia region. His family was forced to flee their home due to constant shelling. A new city, an unfamiliar environment, and the feeling of uncertainty — all of this caused the boy anxiety and fear. He deeply needed communication, but making friends on his own was difficult.
However, from his very first day at the Save Ukraine Community center, things started to change. There, Yaroslav discovered something that inspired him the most — creativity. Drawing became his way of expressing emotions and opening up to the world. Step by step, he grew more confident, began to smile, and finally made new friends.
“Yasia (as we lovingly call him) seems to have grown wings! At first, he clung only to his mother and older sister, but now he confidently interacts with other children, makes friends, and explores new opportunities,” the center’s psychologist shared.
We’re grateful to our partners @worldvision @eu_echo for making it possible to help children affected by the war catch up on their education, socialize, and find inner balance. Every child deserves support — especially in difficult times.
