Cooking helps children overcome the trauma of war
An unusual event took place in the Save Ukraine center — a culinary master class for children of our Kyiv Community Center. This event was amusement and, simultaneously, a therapy that helped the young participants reveal their potential and forget about the trials they had experienced for a while.
During the master class, the children enthusiastically started cooking. They hit it off easy and immersed themselves in the culinary process. As a result, they not only consolidated significant household skills — using cutlery and self-service — but also forgot about negativity for the moment and got pleasure from creativity. It is especially essential for children whose regular lives have been disrupted by war.
Psychologists, teachers, and social workers of Save Ukraine centers use various methods in the rehabilitation process to return war-affected children to their childhood as soon as possible, restore self-confidence, and find new hobbies. Only in this way can children get a chance for a happy future.
