Helping the vulnerable: Save Ukraine’s social taxi
Hundreds of elderly and people with reduced in Ukraine face daily challenges. The ill-equipped public spaces preclude them from getting to hospitals to receive the much-needed help or renew their IDs.
This is why launched a free social taxi as part of the “Support for Elderly and Mobility-Impaired Individuals” project. This service helps the beneficiaries from our “Hope and Renewal” center in Irpin get access to the places they need.
Beneficiaries use the social taxi to:
🔹 Visit hospitals and receive medical care
🔹 Attend social services to renew documents
🔹 Travel to the train station or their next permanent residence
Our vans accommodate up to six passengers and have space for one wheelchair user. They are also equipped with a special lift for people with reduced mobility. This is crucial as regular public transport often remains inaccessible to our beneficiaries.
To book the service, a case manager or center director coordinates the time with the person responsible for the taxi. We work as a united team to ensure that everyone feels comfortable.
We thank our partners, LandsAid and Aktion Deutschland Hilft, for supporting the “Support for Elderly and Mobility-Impaired Individuals in Temporary Emergency Shelters “Hope and Renewal” project.
Thanks to you, we continue to care for those who need it the most.
