Group training "Self-help +" was held for war victims
Constant stress, anxiety, emotional storms, and traumatic memories are just some of the challenges faced by people who have survived the horrors of war or occupation. To help people cope with these troubles and restore inner balance, psychologists at our Hope and Healing Centers conduct group meetings using ‘Self-help +’ techniques.
These sessions teach participants how to recover quickly and easily on their own after traumatic events. For instance, with the ‘Grounding’ exercise, people learn to return to the state of ‘here and now’ if they have emotional storms or panic attacks. Systematic training helps the nervous system adapt to survive difficult situations in the future much better. Having mastered the ‘Self-help +’ techniques, participants can consciously choose their thoughts, words, and actions to interact with the world around them calmly and cheerfully.
Under constant stress, these skills become essential tools to work with yourself and your perception of external events. We are glad to be able to provide such help to those who need it. ‘Self-help +’ group consultations come with the program ‘Complex Psychological Assistance to Children and Families Affected by War’ of the USAID project ‘Building a Sustainable Public Health System’ with the support of PACT, aimed at providing psychosocial support to internally displaced adults and children who suffered from the war.
