From the hell of occupation to a new life thanks to Save Ukraine
The Kanalosh family from Kherson experienced hell during the occupation of their hometown. It’s chaos, looting, empty shops, and the constant risk of life under fire. It was dangerous to go outside because people mysteriously disappeared. But quickly, instead of hopelessness and fear, the young couple decided to flee through russia.
At first, Ruslan and Diana did not know how to escape the war zone because they had no transport. Fortunately, thanks to caring people, it became possible to flee from occupied Kherson and start a new life in the peaceful territory of Ukraine.
Having overcome a difficult road, the family ended up in the Ternopil region. The volunteers introduced the family to coordinator Roman from the Save Ukraine Charity Fund. The couple asked him for help with housing. After a few days, Ruslan, Diana, and their 1.5-year-old son Artem could move into a modular house under the Fort Home program. And this is only the beginning of help from Save Ukraine.
Our employees continued supporting the young family, helping with doctors’ consultations, providing children’s stuff, and finding a job for Ruslan. Finally, the dream came true — thanks to Save Ukraine’s efforts, the man found a job. And now, the family hopes to buy their own house and start a new, peaceful life.
The story of the Kanalosh family is a perfect example of how, thanks to caring people and our organization, thousands of Ukrainian families overcome the most difficult challenges and find the strength to rebuild their future.
