Four Orthopedic Mattresses Delivered: Supporting children with musculoskeletal issues.
For the first time in years, six-year-old Katia is getting enough sleep. She wakes up less tired, feels less pain, and greets each morning with a smile.
Katia has been unable to speak or walk since birth. Her mother lives with cerebral palsy, and her father faces significant health challenges. Their home village remains under Russian occupation. Thanks to Save Ukraine’s support, the family has escaped and found refuge at our Hope and Healing Center in Hatne. Here, Katia attends a day center for children with disabilities, finding peace and stability for the first time in years.
A new orthopedic mattress—a small but meaningful gift—has brought Katia comfort after enduring unimaginable hardships.
Similar support has been extended to other families. The FTCH, caring for four children — two of whom require specialized care—received mattresses, as did a family raising a boy with Down syndrome.
💬 “These mattresses stay with the families,” says Yulia Klymentyeva, Director of Save Ukraine’s Center for Integrated Social Services. “When they move to a permanent home, they can take these high-quality items to create a comfortable space. Orthopedic mattresses help children with musculoskeletal issues sleep soundly, maintain proper posture, and prepare for their daily rehabilitation.”
🙌 Thanks to our partners, we’ve provided four orthopedic mattresses to families with children who need extra support. This small victory amid great challenges offers a sense of security and comfort to those who have survived evacuation and war.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the Petro and Mazepa Foundation, particularly Zoya Shkurko and Dmytro Pidturkin, as well as Mathias Øgendal, for their invaluable support.
💛 Join our mission to bring hope and healing.
