Film about a girl whose voice was taken by war was screened at Okhmatdyt
On December 8, Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital hosted the premiere of a short film based on the real-life story of five-year-old Lina from the Kherson region, who spent more than a year living under occupation with her mother and seven brothers and sisters.
After the family managed to escape to safety, they came under the care of Save Ukraine. Our specialists helped them take their first steps toward recovery. At Okhmatdyt, Lina received the support she desperately needed — the chance to find her voice again, to speak, and to feel safe.
Partners from The Humanity Funds brought Lina’s story to the screen. The film has already received three international awards. But most importantly, they gave the large family something even more life-changing — a home of their own. Along with the keys came a new beginning: stability, warmth, and a place to belong.
The premiere was more than just a film screening. It was an evening about hope — a reminder that trauma can be healed and broken stories can be restored, and that the rescue of even one child can change everything.
