A day at the “Hope and Healing” Center for elderly and immobile people
Care isn’t just about medication or paperwork. It’s also about sharing a cup of coffee, going for a walk, or seeing someone smile after a game of chess. At our center in Irpin, life is made up of these small, everyday moments.
Each morning, the team gathers to go over the residents’ needs. Some need help restoring documents, some are looking to reconnect with family, and some simply need someone to listen. We understand that behind every request there is a unique story — and every story deserves attention.
After breakfast, it’s time for a medical check-up. The nurse measures blood pressure, provides consultations, and hands out medication. When necessary, we organize visits to doctors. Daily care for people’s health is our responsibility.
In the afternoon comes a time for emotional recovery. One-on-one conversations with a psychologist, art therapy, and creative group activities all help people feel important and alive again.
Throughout the day, residents can watch films, listen to the news, play chess, or take walks. And our drivers, social workers, and administrators are always close — with a kind word, a good sense of humor, or helpful advice. They find time not just for tasks, but for human connection, which is just as healing.
Mr. Ivan laughs, recalling his youth. Ms. Tetiana talks about a TV series. These simple conversations help people feel at home.
The Hope and Healing Center is more than just temporary housing. It’s a place where people regain their sense of dignity — where everyone who has lost their home and found themselves in a vulnerable situation is treated with care and compassion.
We thank our partners — LandsAid, Aktion Deutschland Hilft, and all those who support us. Thanks to you, we can continue creating a space where people don’t just survive — they begin to live again.
