Community centers: Yuri's recovery story
The story of 13-year-old Yura from Kharkiv is a perfect example of how a person can find inner strength after trauma and even become a support for others.
When a Russian rocket killed his older brother 1.5 years ago, Yura lost faith in himself and goodness. The guy needed moral support, acceptance, and motivation. And it’s good that he found all this in our daily center. The teenager started coming here almost from the first days of opening. It happened right after the tragedy. Eventually, with the support of a psychologist and teachers, from a shy, closed-off boy, Yura turned into a confident leader who not only believes in himself but also inspires other teenagers.
Today, the boy actively helps us organize various leisure activities and holidays. Mostly, he is a constant generator of creative ideas himself. Yura launched a musical group with friends who appeared at the center. The guy himself plays the guitar and gets a lot of pleasure from it. In addition, such a rich and active life made Yura slimmer and more self-confident.
It is vital for us that Yura was able to revive this love for life and motivation to move towards his future. After all, this is the mission we continue to invest in every day. You can also join the support of children who survived the horrors of war on our website or by the link in our stories.
