After evacuating and rescuing children affected by war, it's crucial to provide them with psychological assistance and create conditions for restoring their mental well-being.
This is precisely what psychologists, educators, and social workers at Save Ukraine’s community centers are dedicated to.
At the Doloni center in Dnipro, experts employ art as a therapeutic tool for healing children. It is not only a way of expressing oneself, but also a powerful method for nurturing mental health.
In this unique therapy approach, children start by placing large sheets of paper in front of them, where they begin to draw spontaneous scribbles. This initial chaos allows them to relax, disconnect from daily concerns, and release pent-up emotions. Following this, children are encouraged to tap into their imagination, identifying images within the scribbles resembling animals or fairy-tale creatures. Yet, this is just the beginning! The kids not only find these characters, but also invent incredible stories about them. Each narrative is consistently accompanied by bright smiles and a glint of joy in the children’s eyes, signifying our progress toward a happier future for these young ones.
