A transdisciplinary Early Intervwntion team: who it’s for and how it works
When a child has developmental delays, families often find themselves overwhelmed: Where do we go? Whom can we trust? Why are different specialists saying different things?
Now imagine having one team by your side. A psychologist, speech therapist, physical therapist, doctor, and social worker who collaborate instead of working separately. This is exactly how Save Ukraine’s transdisciplinary Early Intervention team in Irpin operates: specialists pool their expertise to support the family and create a safe, nurturing environment for the child’s development.
How does it work? Everything starts with partnership with parents. Families are not “passive recipients of help,” but equal participants who make decisions together with the specialists. Based on this collaboration, the team develops a unified strategy — a coordinated action plan that prevents parents from getting lost in conflicting advice. This plan is flexible and can be quickly adapted to the child’s age, needs, and the family’s living situation.
Early Intervention combines medical, psychological, social, and educational support. And the transdisciplinary model strengthens the family’s overall quality of life and increases a child’s chances of successful socialization.
