A new start for the Raykov family thanks to Fort Home
💬 “It was horrifying, especially when we did not know what awaited us… Explosions were all around, we did not know what to do next. But now we have our quiet corner. And it is the most valuable thing,” shares Viktoriia, a mother of two children.
The Raykov family lived in the village of Naumivka in the Chernihiv region, just a few kilometers from the Russian border. For a month and a half, they had to live amidst explosions as tanks passed right through their village. Staying at home became too dangerous. So Viktoriia decided to gather her children and seek a safer place. That is how the family arrived at our Hope and Healing Center, where they were provided with everything they needed.
It was only a temporary shelter. The administrators of the Center began looking for a more sustainable solution for the family. Eventually, they moved into a modular house through the Fort Home program.
Viktoriia admits that the greatest gift for their family was the feeling of stability and safety — having their own space where they no longer had to fear explosions or live in constant anxiety. “It is quiet here, safe, and the house has everything we need for a comfortable life. We are so happy and grateful for such support,” she says with glee.
The Fort Home project helps families like the Raykovs rebuild their lives after losing their homes. We not only provide a safe corner for comfortable living but also help enroll children in schools and kindergartens while offering parents employment consultations. After all, only a stable family life can guarantee the successful reconstruction of Ukraine.
