8 children were rescued from russian captivity
🙌🏼 We have awesome news: @saveukraine.official, in cooperation with @bringkidsback_ua, has successfully brought home 8 more Ukrainian children who were in the occupied territories of Ukraine and in russia
🧑🧒 Among those returned is 16-year-old Anastasia from Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 2021, she moved to russia to live with her father, but after his tragic death in a car accident, she was left alone. Despite attempts by the russian authorities to convince Nastya to stay and accept the guardianship of russian citizens, she longed to return home to her mother, Viktoria. Unfortunately, her mother’s attempts to retrieve her on her own were unsuccessful. Viktoria had to endure the humiliating experience of FSB filtration in Sheremetyevo, was denied entry to russia to retrieve her child, and was left in total despair, thinking no one would help her. But fortunately, Viktoria is finally back to Ukraine to be with her mother.
Anastasia shared her experience of being in russia: “When the war started, I was very worried about my mother, relatives in Ukraine, I was scared. I received insults and taunts from classmates: ‘You’re a khokhol (a derogatory term for Ukrainians), why did you come here?’ That was at first, but then it stopped because I didn’t react.” She also shared her impressions of the mandatory military training in school and the propaganda she encountered.
🫂 The total number of children rescued by Save Ukraine in collaboration with Bring Kids Back UA has now reached 454. Each rescued child is a significant victory and a step toward the restoration of Ukrainian families. And we will not stop until all Ukrainian children are returned home.
We are grateful to all the partners and volunteers who have joined in the rescue of the children. Special thanks to WeAreAllUkrainians, Ron Wahid, the Humanity Foundation, and all our reliable partners, who have made the rescue of Ukrainian children possible 💙💛
