8 Ukrainian children and teenagers have been rescued from temporarily occupied territories
Eight Ukrainian children rescued from occupied territories. The Save Ukraine team has successfully rescued eight Ukrainian children and teenagers from temporarily occupied territories.
We are deeply grateful to Wolodymyr Klitschko, Tatjana Kiel from WeAreAllUkrainians, Humanity Foundation, Helping to Leave, and the Joint Center for the Coordination of Search and Release for making this mission possible.
These children endured fear, pressure, and humiliation — but today, they are finally safe. They can once again be children, breathe freely, and feel love around them.
Among those rescued:
🔹 11-year-old Davyid, who spent almost four years hiding at home so that no one in his village would notice him. He continued his Ukrainian schooling online, while his mother lived in constant fear that they would be discovered and forced to send him to a Russian school. During the occupation, Russian soldiers routinely searched for families whose children were not enrolled in local schools.
🔹 18-year-old Matviy, who, along with his older brother, was pressured by local collaborators to register for military service. They were threatened with a fine of 30,000 rubles and deportation if they refused to appear at the “military office.” After deportation, they would have been immediately drafted into the Russian army.
🔹 17-year-old Vsevolod and 15-year-old Yeva, who were constantly humiliated in their Russian school — especially by teachers. The children stopped attending classes, unable to bear the abuse. Their parents were repeatedly summoned to “child welfare commissions” and fined three times — 500, 1,000, and 1,500 rubles — for so-called “failure to fulfill parental duties.”
🔹 21-year-old Myroslav, who survived a house raid and brutal threats. Russian forces stormed his home, turning everything upside down after accusing him of collaborating with the Ukrainian military. He was taken to a police station, where he was tortured and forced to confess. The soldiers threatened to bring his mother, girlfriend, and grandmother — and rape them — if he “didn’t start talking.”
Today, all of these rescued children are safe. At our Hope and Healing Centers, they receive psychological support, help with documentation, shelter, and care — everything they need to start feeling like children again. Thanks to Save Ukraine, more than 900 children have already been rescued from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories.
But thousands more are still waiting to be saved.
